The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the counselling schedule for the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2026 on its official website. Alongside this, the institute has issued the provisional offer letters for the Master of Design (MDes) Round 1 counselling on 21 May 2026.

The results for the NID DAT Bachelor of Design (BDes) mains 2026 are expected to be announced on or before 28 May 2026. Following the result declaration, the counselling process for shortlisted BDes candidates will commence. Candidates can stay updated by visiting the official NID admissions portal at admissions.nid.edu.

NID DAT 2026 Counselling Dates

According to the official schedule, counselling registration for BDes admissions will open from the date of result announcement and continue until 31 May 2026. Candidates selected for counselling must upload and submit the following documents:

• Educational certificates

• Birth certificate

• Valid photo ID proof

• Other necessary documents

The final date for document submission is 31 May 2026. The seat allotment results will be declared on 9 June 2026, and candidates who are allocated seats must confirm their admission and pay the token fee by 11 June 2026.

NID DAT 2026 Counselling Process

Only candidates who clear both stages of the NID entrance exam—Prelims and Mains—are eligible to participate in the counselling. The counselling process involves:

• Online registration

• Choice filling for courses and campuses

• Document verification

• Seat confirmation

Seats are allotted based on the following criteria:

• NID DAT mains score

• Candidate’s category

• Campus preferences submitted during counselling

• Availability of seats

As per the revised admission guidelines for 2026, the final admission will be determined solely based on NID DAT mains scores.

Important Instructions for Candidates

Candidates must complete the counselling process and report with all required documents within the specified timeline. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the allotted seat, which will then be offered to the next eligible candidate in the same category.
