Description

The Gujarat Common Entrance Test 2026 concluded on March 29, with thousands of candidates completing their exams across the state. The next step for students is the release of the provisional answer key, which is expected soon.

The offline examination was conducted across 34 zones, 668 centres, and 6,857 blocks, with CCTV surveillance and strict monitoring ensuring a fair process. As in previous years, male candidates outnumbered female candidates, with 73,150 males and 62,725 females appearing for the test.

Stream-wise participation

The biology stream saw the highest turnout, with approximately 77,074 students choosing the B Group. Mathematics (A Group) attracted 58,406 candidates, while only 395 students opted to take both streams, reflecting a clear preference among aspirants.

Exam schedule and marking scheme

The GUJCET 2026 exams were conducted in three sessions. Physics and Chemistry were combined and held in the morning, followed by Biology in the early afternoon and Mathematics later in the day. The marking structure remained the same: Physics-Chemistry paper carried 80 marks, while Biology and Mathematics were worth 40 marks each.

Accessibility provisions for divyang candidates

This year, divyang candidates were granted an extra 20 minutes per hour of exam time, extending the schedule from 9:30 AM to 5:05 PM. Officials stated that this adjustment was made to ensure an inclusive and fair testing environment.

Participation beyond Gujarat

Most candidates were from the Gujarat Board (over 1.15 lakh), but students from CBSE (18,769) and CISCE (729) also appeared. Additionally, candidates from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh took the exam, alongside 12 international applicants, highlighting GUJCET’s growing reach.

Provisional answer key release

The provisional answer key is expected to be published in the first week of April on the official GUJCET website. It will include the question papers, correct answers, and a period for raising objections. Once the feedback is reviewed, the final answer key will be released, which will form the basis for announcing the GUJCET 2026 results, anticipated in May.
