The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), New Delhi, has released detailed guidelines for fresh admissions for the 2026–27 academic session. The online registration process for Class I and Balvatika (levels 1 and 3, where available) will begin at 10:00 AM on March 20, 2026, through the official admission portal, continuing the digital process followed in previous years.

The deadline to complete online registration is April 2, 2026. Admissions for Class II and above will be conducted offline only, depending on seat availability and as per the official admission schedule. The guidelines have been issued in both Hindi and English.

Eligibility and Age Criteria

For Class I admission, children must be at least 6 years old as of March 31, 2026. Admissions will follow the KVS Admission Guidelines 2026–27, including reservation policies.

For Balvatika:

• Balvatika-1: 3 to 4 years

• Balvatika-2: 4 to 5 years

• Balvatika-3: 5 to 6 years

These age limits are calculated as of March 31, 2026. In schools where Balvatika-3 is functional, students will move to Class I after completion.

Admission Process for Higher Classes and New KVs

Offline registration for Balvatika-2 and 3 (where online mode is not available), as well as for Class II and above (except Class XI), will take place from April 2 to April 8, 2026. Applications must be submitted directly to the respective KV principal.

For newly established Kendriya Vidyalayas opening from April 1, 2026:

• Balvatika and Class I admissions will be conducted online

• Classes II to V admissions will follow offline procedures

In existing schools where new sections are introduced, offline admission will also be conducted alongside the online process for Class I.

Publicity and Document Verification

Regional offices will publish admission notices in newspapers, including local language publications, and on official websites. Schools will also display available seats for Class II and above on notice boards and digital platforms before starting offline admissions.

School principals have been instructed to thoroughly verify documents such as birth certificates, address proof, service certificates, caste certificates, and disability certificates. Any admission secured using incorrect or fake documents may be cancelled.

• Online registration starts (Class I & Balvatika): March 20, 2026 (10:00 AM)

• Online registration ends: April 2, 2026

• Offline registration (Class II and above): April 2 to April 8, 2026 (till 4:00 PM)

• Classes begin (Balvatika & Class I): April 20, 2026

Additional Information

In schools with Balvatika sections, admissions for Balvatika-1 and 3 will generally be conducted online, while Balvatika-2 may be handled offline where applicable. Fresh admissions may be allowed if class strength remains below 40 students.

For candidates under the EWS category, valid documents such as colour-coded ration cards (in states where BPL cards are not issued) will be accepted.

Transfers between Kendriya Vidyalayas during the academic session are not permitted, except in cases where a government employee parent is officially transferred.
