The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has opened the online application process for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official UPSC website.

As per the schedule released by the commission, the last date to apply is February 24, 2026. The UPSC CSE Preliminary Examination 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on May 24, 2026. Detailed information regarding eligibility conditions, application fee, and the selection process is provided below.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the Civil Services Examination must possess a graduation degree from a university established under a Central or State Act, an institution recognized by Parliament, or a university deemed under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Candidates holding an equivalent qualification are also eligible to apply.

In terms of age, applicants must be at least 21 years old and not more than 32 years old as on August 1, 2026. This means candidates should have been born between August 2, 1994, and August 1, 2005, both dates inclusive.

Application Fee

The application fee for UPSC CSE 2026 is ?100. However, female candidates, SC/ST applicants, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are exempted from paying the fee.

The fee can be paid online using credit card, debit card, RuPay card, or UPI. Candidates who qualify for the Civil Services Main Examination 2026 will be required to pay an additional fee of ?200 within 10 days of the declaration of the Preliminary Examination result.
